About The Floating Hospital
Founded in 1866, The Floating Hospital is one of the last remaining private charity hospitals in New York City. The Floating Hospital’s mission is to provide exceptional, compassionate healthcare to diverse and underserved communities, regardless of insurance status or ability to pay.
The Floating Hospital serves 15,000 homeless patients every year, mainly women and children living in domestic violence safe houses and homeless shelters. These families are fighting to secure basic necessities every day, every hour.
Our free transportation service makes it easy for families to visit our clinic—wherever they live, we will come. We take out every barrier for those that need it most and provide the safety and comfort that homeless women and children need to be healthy and rebuild their lives.
